i have seen so many men
whine and weep
tripping over our feet
in desperate defense
of our intentions
as it relates to the actions
of a killer, rapist, or sitting president
and it’s ever evident
that our character
needs more protection
and attention
than a victim’s sentiment
and the problem here is that
the distraction is eminent
pulling the conversation away
to focus on the outliers
is in fact a reduction of
relevance
all men
all of us
it has to be
if i am a casualty
in the death of patriarchy
i will tighten the noose myself
until my breath departs me
