who ever could have promised me a better forever

yesterday we ate thai
as the rain clouds
washed away the daylight
and our hoods were drenched
and our hair was curly and wild
and we sniffled and smiled
without saying much
because the day was full of talking
and exploring canyons
and caves and such
and drinking a spritz overlooking
the lake
and rushed conversations
with strangers
on travel musts
and then there was
us
in the middle of every moment
trading glances and hushed
whispers of romantics
kisses stolen
at the first chance
the second it was just
us
standing in the rain
waiting on another bus
we wrote
ik hou van jou
on our wrists
like we were kids
and love felt as fresh
as our very first kiss

who ever
could have promised me
a better forever
